SCOTT T. SIMMONS

Principal Engineering Geologist

Qualifications

Mr. Simmons graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geology from California Lutheran University in 1976 and holds a certificate in Hazardous Materials Management from the University of California at Santa Barbara.  He is a Registered Geologist and Certified Engineering Geologist in the States of California and Oregon.

 

 

Professional Experience

 

 

Mr. Simmons has over thirty years of geologic experience as a geologist with Gorian and Associates, Inc.  His experience includes project management of geotechnical investigations for large residential tracts, school sites, and commercial sites within hillside areas of Southern California.  Mr. Simmons has performed surficial and subsurface geological exploration, interpretation of geophysical data, rock rippability studies, rock placement methods, evaluation of the stability of natural and man-made slopes, landslide studies and stabilization methods, aerial photograph analysis, geologic hazard evaluations and mitigation, seismic risk, fault activity evaluations, and in-grading geologic inspections.  Mr. Simmons has designed private on-site sewage disposal systems in Los Angeles and Ventura counties for single family lots to entire tracts, and commercial sites.

 

 

Mr. Simmons has also worked on various geologic projects within the off­shore areas of Southern California and Alaska including the Bering Sea.

 

 

Professional Affiliations

 

 

Mr. Simmons is a Member of the Association of Engineering Geologists, American Association of Petroleum Geologists and Coast Geological Society (President: 2003-2004).

 

Publications

 

 

Mr. Simmons has co-authored a seismic evaluation report with Roy J. Shlemon, Ph.D., titled, Holocene Displacement of the Simi Fault at Moorpark, Ventura County, California (Association of Engineering Geologists-Southern California Section Field Trip Guide, November, 1995).
